An Hour in Adaptive Mentorship Program (AMP)
December 15, 2019
Mr. Brown was inspired to start the AMP class after taking a rock climbing class where he was paired up with a partner with disabilities. By the end of the class, they were able to make
it to the top of the wall, and he wanted to help Eagle Valley kids to the top of the wall as well.
The Adaptive Mentorship Program (AMP) is a place students mentor students with special needs. This program has helped students form strong bonds with each other and see the world in a different way. The class meets daily during 3rd hour in Ms. Miller’s room, and classes usually involve a lesson, sometimes mentor-led, about values, physical activity, or social interaction. This class is a positive environment dedicated to lifting each other up and having fun just being yourself.
